The Toronto Blue Jays already have their sights set on free agency after their season ended Sunday.
The Blue Jays are expected to pursue Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki if he hits the open market, a source told Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
Suzuki, who's hit 20-plus homers in four straight seasons and owns an .823 career OPS, would add a much-needed power bat to a bottom-five offense that finished last in MLB for home runs in 2026.
Toronto will also likely show interest in Hanshin Tigers slugger Teruaki Sato, according to Bannon. The 27-year-old Japanese star went deep 37 times with 100 RBIs and a 1.012 OPS over 136 NPB games this season.
Additionally, the Blue Jays could look to improve their middle infield duo of Ernie Clement and Andrés Giménez. The club reportedly had talks to bring in a prominent infielder at the trade deadline.
On the pitching front, Toronto has a "real shot" at bringing back right-hander Shane Bieber, a source told Bannon.
The 2020 AL Cy Young winner would likely be open to a short-term deal to rebuild his value after dealing with injuries in back-to-back campaigns, per Bannon.
Bieber accrued a 4.03 ERA with 1.25 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 over 96 innings (18 starts) after arriving from the Cleveland Guardians at the trade deadline in July 2025.
