Houston Astros infielder Carlos Correa won't be back this season, manager Joe Espada said Tuesday, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
Correa was attempting to return from ankle surgery for a torn tendon sustained in May after progressing quicker than expected.
However, Espada said the three-time All-Star's daily workload and recovery became too much to handle, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic.
The skipper added that Correa didn't suffer a setback or any further injury to his left ankle.
Correa was nearing rehab games after recently taking reps at second base at the team's spring facility. The longtime shortstop started the season manning third base.
The 31-year-old finishes 2026 with three home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .787 OPS over 32 games.
