The San Fransisco Giants placed star first baseman Rafael Devers on the 60-day injured list with a core muscle injury, ruling him out for the rest of the season, the club announced Sunday.
The Giants said in a statement that Devers will see a specialist and may need surgery after managing the ailment for most of the year, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Devers, who missed only one game this season before landing on the IL, has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball following the All-Star break. From July 14 onward, he slashed .275/.376/.611 with an MLB-leading 46 RBIs. His 18 homers are second to only Pete Crow-Armstrong during that span.
The 29-year-old finishes with 37 homers, 98 RBIs, and an .865 OPS over 148 games in 2026.
