The Baltimore Orioles claimed outfielder Luis Robert Jr. off waivers from the New York Mets on Monday, the team announced.
Robert, an All-Star in 2023 with the Chicago White Sox, slashed .223/.303/.399 with 10 home runs and 23 RBIs in 218 plate appearances with the Mets this season. He also has just two stolen bases despite swiping 33 last campaign.
The 29-year-old has approximately $5 million in salary remaining on his contract for 2026. His deal includes a $20-million option for 2027 with a $2-million buyout.
Robert started to find his groove in August, posting an .841 OPS since the beginning of the month. He also has a career .856 OPS against lefties.
Injuries have plagued Robert for much of his career, as he's played more than 110 games only once in a season - his lone All-Star campaign. He posted an .857 OPS that year while slugging a career-high 38 home runs.
Robert figures to help an Orioles squad that enters Monday just one game out of the final wild-card spot in the AL.
