The Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs reached out to the Toronto Blue Jays about right-hander José Soriano after Toronto acquired him from the Los Angeles Angels, sources told The Athletic's Mitch Bannon and Dan Hayes.
Minnesota reportedly offered a package built around shortstop prospect Kaelen Culpepper, but Toronto made it clear it would only listen if the Twins also included their top pitching prospect, Riley Quick.
Culpepper, who is considered the Twins' No. 2 prospect by MLB Pipeline, was called up to the majors Friday and homered in his big-league debut.
The Cubs' offer to Toronto wasn't reported.
The Blue Jays acquired Soriano on deadline day for three prospects, including shortstop Arjun Nimmala.
The 27-year-old Soriano owns a 3.29 ERA this season and allowed one earned run over 4 2/3 innings in his Blue Jays debut Friday.
