The Cincinnati Reds placed right-hander Hunter Greene on the 15-day injured list with right elbow soreness, the team announced Wednesday.
The move is retroactive to Aug. 2.
Greene felt discomfort in his elbow after throwing a side session Tuesday and underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning, according to The Athletic's C. Trent Rosecrans. He'll visit Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Thursday to get his elbow looked at.
The 26-year-old missed the first three months of the season following surgery to remove loose bodies and bone chips from his pitching elbow. He returned to make five starts for the Reds.
Greene didn't pitch to his usual standard in those five outings, allowing 21 earned runs in 27 2/3 innings. He produced a 2.76 ERA or lower in back-to-back campaigns prior to this season and was an All-Star in 2024.
Cincinnati recalled right-hander Luis Mey from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
