The Toronto Blue Jays placed starting pitcher Trey Yesavage on the 15-day injured list due to left knee inflammation, the team announced Wednesday.
The right-hander exited Tuesday's loss to the Houston Astros after experiencing knee discomfort while attempting to warm up for the third inning.
Yesavage went for an MRI following Tuesday's game, though manager John Schneider said Wednesday that the team is still waiting for the results, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.
Schneider described the injury as a "a pinching sensation" in which Yesavage "couldn't really stabilize perfectly."
Toronto also optioned right-hander Chad Dallas and recalled pitchers Lazaro Estrada and Chase Lee.
After acquiring starting pitchers Jameson Taillon and José Soriano prior to the trade deadline, the Blue Jays planned to utilize a six-man rotation before Yesavage sustained the injury.
Yesavage played a pivotal part in helping the team reach the World Series last year despite 2025 being his first taste of MLB action. He's followed that campaign with a 5-5 record and 3.65 ERA across 18 starts this season.
