Money won't prevent the Milwaukee Brewers from acquiring Tarik Skubal if they ultimately decide to make a trade-deadline deal for the Detroit Tigers left-hander.
The Brewers are willing to absorb all of Skubal's salary in a potential deal, a source told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
Skubal is owed the remainder of his $32-million salary for this season, which is approximately $9.4 million, according to Rosenthal.
Milwaukee is reportedly among the teams interested in acquiring Skubal, who is a pending free agent and one of the top starters in the league. He's followed back-to-back Cy Young campaigns with a 2.79 ERA in 16 starts this season.
The Brewers, whose payroll ranks among the bottom 10 in the league, might have more trouble offering the Tigers enough in return.
Milwaukee has one of the top farm systems in baseball but appears reluctant to include MLB's No. 1 prospect, Jesús Made, or the organization's second-ranked prospect, Luis Peña, in trades.
