New York Yankees All-Star outfielder Cody Bellinger will be sidelined four-to-six weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, manager Aaron Boone said Monday, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
The Yankees placed Bellinger on the 10-day injured list Sunday after he suffered the setback Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 31-year-old exited the contest after trying to leg out a double.
New York is already missing Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, as both players are nursing long-term ailments.
"We've had some tough injuries to some really important people," Boone said, according to Jay Cohen of The Associated Press. "But again, that is part of it. As I say, the season waits for no one."
Bellinger is slashing .259/.350/.420 with 11 home runs, 53 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases over 102 games this season. His 3.0 fWAR is second on the Yankees among position players.
Entering Monday, the Yankees sit three games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the AL East lead.
