The Milwaukee Brewers are finalizing a trade to acquire starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. from the Houston Astros, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

McCullers is waiving his no-trade clause as part of the deal, a source told Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

In addition to McCullers, left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon is also going to Milwaukee, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

McCullers, who's in the final season of his five-year, $85-million contract, hasn't pitched since May 13 due to a shoulder injury. However, he's struggled when he's been on the mound this season, posting a 6.86 ERA across eight starts.

The 32-year-old has spent his entire career with the Astros, winning two World Series with the club in 2017 and 2022. McCullers also earned an All-Star nod in 2017 and owns a career ERA of 3.85. Though he's battled injuries throughout his career, McCullers hasn't looked the same since missing the 2023 and 2024 seasons after undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right arm. In 2025, he finished with a 6.51 ERA over 13 starts.

The Brewers lead the NL Central with a 59-37 record, while the Astros sit third in the AL West at 47-51.
