The Toronto Blue Jays selected the contract of infielder Sean Keys and placed outfielder Jesús Sánchez on the 10-day injured list due to a right ankle sprain, the club announced Saturday.
Keys will hit sixth in Toronto's lineup and start at first base for Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. The 23-year-old has impressed in 2026, recording 21 home runs in the minor leagues while batting .284 with a 1.028 OPS across stops in Buffalo and New Hampshire.
The Blue Jays also called up outfielder Yohendrick Piñango and optioned utility player Davis Schneider to Triple-A.
Schneider heads to Buffalo for a second time this season. He's struggled offensively, hitting just .153 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in Toronto this year. Schneider's OBP (.282) is also nearly equal to his slugging percentage (.296).
The Blue Jays are in desperate need of a jolt, as they look to snap a four-game losing streak. The reigning AL champions have fallen flat at the plate this campaign, with Kazuma Okamoto the only player on the roster with more than eight home runs (19).
The Jays enter Saturday with a 39-43 record.
