The Boston Red Sox are indicating to other teams that they're interested in trading for a right-handed bat, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
The Red Sox front office is willing to spend money to facilitate a deal, reports Olney.
Roman Anthony's absence has created a glaring hole in a lineup that already had questions about power and slugging heading into the season.
Anthony, who isn't swinging a bat after enduring a recent setback, has been sidelined since May 4 due to a sprained ligament in his ring finger.
The Red Sox will also be without Trevor Story for 8-12 weeks following his sports hernia surgery in May.
Entering Thursday, Boston's 41 homers were the lowest total in the AL and second-worst mark in baseball. The club ranks 23rd in slugging percentage (.381) and 25th in wRC+ (93) as well.
The Red Sox (26-34) currently sit last in the AL East.
