Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Chandler Simpson left Monday's game against the Detroit Tigers in the fourth inning after cutting his lip on his helmet during a stolen-base attempt.
Simpson's helmet flew off his head, ricocheted off second base, and hit him in the face.

The 25-year-old exited with training staff, and the Rays have not yet provided an update on his status.
Simpson entered Monday's contest hitting .282 with 14 stolen bases for the first-place Rays.
