Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jesús Sánchez left Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles with an injury after a fan threw a baseball at him in right field at Camden Yards.
Video from the Peacock broadcast showed a projectile hitting Sánchez as he seemed to be exchanging words with someone in the stands while flapping his glove in their direction. Sánchez immediately dropped his glove in pain after being hit and left the field upon being checked by trainers. A baseball could be seen sitting on the grass beside Sánchez while he was being examined.

"We have identified the fan and removed them from the ballpark while we conduct a thorough investigation," an Orioles spokesperson said in a statement obtained by Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun.
Fans in right field told Meyer that the baseball was thrown by a young fan who apparently thought Sánchez was flapping his glove in an attempt to play catch. The child, whom fellow spectators said appeared to be around 13 years old, according to Meyer, then threw the ball at Sánchez just before he turned around and hit him in the wrist.
Yohendrick Piñango entered the game in right field for Sánchez. There was no immediate update on his condition.
The 28-year-old Sánchez is hitting .287/.324/.461 with six home runs and 28 RBIs in 57 games this season.
