The Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup will be missing a big bopper going forward.

The Dodgers will place outfielder Teoscar Hernández on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday's game, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Hernández is expected to miss a few weeks "at the minimum."

L.A. will recall outfielder Ryan Ward from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Hernández's spot on the active roster, a source told Ardaya. The move will likely become official before Friday's game.

Hernández suffered the injury while running out a ground ball during his second-inning at-bat Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. He came up lame as he crossed first base and grabbed at the back of his left leg, then slammed his helmet in frustration in the dugout moments later. Hyeseong Kim replaced Hernández in left field in the top of third.

Hernández has been on a hot streak, putting up a 1.056 OPS with three homers over the last two weeks.

Roberts said Hernández's injury is "disappointing."

"He's been playing so well, and he's a big part of what we're doing," Roberts said, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. "So to lose him for any length of time is not great."

Hernández, now in his third season with the Dodgers, has generally been healthy throughout his career. This will be just his second IL stint since 2022; he missed around two weeks last May because of a groin strain.

The three-time Silver Slugger winner is hitting .276/.348/.436 slash line with seven home runs and 31 RBIs over 51 games this season. He's been the Dodgers' starting left fielder in all but five of their 56 games in 2026.

Ward, Hernández's reported replacement, appeared in his first two big-league games in April. MLB.com ranks him as the Dodgers' No. 19 prospect. The 28-year-old is hitting .254/.379/.418 with six homers, 31 RBIs, and six steals over 214 plate appearances in Triple-A.

Ward can play both corner outfield spots as well as first base. He could form the left-handed half of a left field platoon with Alex Call while Hernández is out. Kim is also an option to patrol left, though the bulk of his outfield experience has been as a center fielder.
