JJ Wetherholt has made the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals' top prospect earned a roster spot for their Opening Day game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, the team announced Monday.

Wetherholt is expected to begin the season as the team's starting second baseman. The 23-year-old is the No. 5-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.

Wetherholt hit two homers with seven RBIs and a .780 OPS across 15 games during spring training. He went deep 17 times with 59 RBIs, 23 stolen bases, and a .931 OPS over 109 contests between Double-A and Triple-A in 2025.

St. Louis selected the infielder with the seventh pick in the 2024 draft.
