Orioles' Westburg to miss all of April due to elbow, oblique injuries
The Baltimore Orioles will be without starting third baseman Jordan Westburg to begin the 2026 campaign.
Westburg will be out through the end of April because of a partial UCL tear in his right elbow as well as a right oblique injury, Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias announced Friday.
"I feel terrible for him," Elias said, according to MLB.com's Jake Rill. "He's one of our hardest workers and one of our best teammates. I know everybody's feeling for him, and he's had a lot of terrible luck.
"But the good news is that our doctors and Dr. (Neal) ElAttrache are optimistic this is something where we can avoid surgery. It's just going to be some time and some work. We're pretty confident that we're going to get him back pretty soon."
Westburg is expected to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday, and there's no timetable for the 27-year-old's return.
The Orioles will also start the year without second baseman Jackson Holliday, who's sidelined with a broken hamate bone in his right hand.
Westburg hit 17 home runs and posted a .770 OPS last season after having an All-Star campaign in 2024.
