Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll underwent surgery Wednesday after breaking the hamate bone in his right hand, the club announced.

Carroll won't suit up for the United States during the World Baseball Classic in March, and his status for Opening Day is uncertain.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury during batting practice Tuesday.

Francisco Lindor and Jackson Holliday are other notable MLB players dealing with hamate injuries to start spring training.

Last season, Carroll hit 31 homers and an MLB-best 17 triples to go along with 84 RBIs, 32 stolen bases, and an .883 OPS in 143 games en route to finishing sixth in NL MVP voting.

The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year also accrued a career-high 6.5 fWAR in 2025.
