Athletics extend Wilson on 7-year deal reportedly worth $70M
The Athletics and All-Star shortstop Jacob Wilson agreed to a seven-year contract extension with a club option for 2033, the club announced Friday.
The deal is worth $70 million, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Wilson slashed .311/.355/.444 with 13 homers, 63 RBIs, and a 120 wRC+ over 125 games last year en route to finishing as the AL Rookie of the Year runner-up.
The 23-year-old struck out 39 times across 523 plate appearances to place in the 100th percentile for strikeout percentage among qualified hitters in 2025.
Wilson made his MLB debut in July 2024 after he was selected with the No. 6 pick in the 2023 draft.
The Athletics have now extended several members of their core before the team's scheduled move to Las Vegas for the 2028 campaign. Tyler Soderstrom inked a seven-year, $86-million pact in December; Lawrence Butler signed a seven-year, $65.5-million deal last March; and Brent Rooker agreed to a five-year, $60-million contract in January 2025.
The A's also employ reigning AL Rookie of the Year Nick Kurtz, who's under club control through 2031, and top infield prospect Leo De Vries - the key piece in the Mason Miller trade with the San Diego Padres last July.
