Braves' Kim to miss 4-5 months after finger surgery

Atlanta Braves shortstop Ha-Seong Kim is expected to miss four-to-five months after sustaining a hand injury in Korea, the team announced Sunday.

Kim underwent surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger.

The 30-year-old suffered the injury when he fell on ice, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

Kim signed a one-year, $20-million deal with the Braves in December. He appeared in 24 games with Atlanta last season after starting the year with the Tampa Bay Rays.

He slashed .234/.304/.345 with five home runs and 17 RBIs over 48 contests in 2025.

Offseason acquisition Mauricio Dubón and Jorge Mateo, whom the Braves signed to a one-year deal on Monday, will likely share the bulk of shortstop reps with Kim sidelined.
