The Philadelphia Phillies are feeling positive about their chances of landing Bo Bichette in free agency.

Philadelphia's front office believes there's a path forward to reaching a deal with the two-time All-Star shortstop, sources told Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.

However, the club must outbid other suitors such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox, as well as clear payroll to accommodate Bichette's potential contract, notes Zolecki.

There's mutual interest between the Phillies and Bichette following Monday's meeting, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark, who adds it was a good chance for both sides to get to know each other. No contract talks have occurred yet.

Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski has a history of landing star players he targets by adding extra years to a deal, which has led to rival executives taking note of the club's pursuit of Bichette, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

The 27-year-old is reportedly looking for a deal around $300 million.

The Phillies already have a star shortstop in Trea Turner but Bichette could move to second base, Bryson Stott would go to third base, and Alec Bohm would likely be traded. Another option would see Bryce Harper move back to the outfield.

Bichette slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 homers, 94 RBIs, and an .840 OPS over 139 games en route to helping the Toronto Blue Jays win the AL East last season. He was injured for the majority of the playoffs before returning in the World Series.
