The Boston Red Sox have been busy this offseason, continuing to look for ways to improve their roster.

One player whom the team is showing interest in is Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte, reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Marte is being considered in case the Red Sox can't re-sign Alex Bregman or acquire free-agent shortstop Bo Bichette, Heyman adds.

The 32-year-old Marte has been one of the top second basemen since 2019, posting the third-highest fWAR and second-best offensive rating at his position during that span.

The Diamondbacks are reportedly considering deals involving Marte, who has been with the club for nine seasons, with the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays also checking in on his availability.

Boston has made six trades this offseason, adding key pieces like Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo to the roster.
