Angels sign former All-Star pitcher Manoah to 1-year deal
The Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Alek Manoah agreed to a one-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.
Manoah's deal is worth $1.95 million, a source told Jeff Passan of ESPN.
The Atlanta Braves non-tendered Manoah in late November.
The Angels discussed a trade for the former All-Star two years ago when he was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. However, a deal never materialized.
Manoah finished as a 2022 AL Cy Young finalist with the Blue Jays before struggling in 2023. He underwent elbow surgery in June 2024.
The 27-year-old owns a career 3.34 ERA with 1.16 WHIP and 8.8 K/9 over 420 innings (75 starts) since debuting in 2021.
Manoah is expected to compete for a spot in a rotation that also includes Yusei Kikuchi, José Soriano, Reid Detmers, and newcomer Grayson Rodriguez.
