San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. isn't on the trade market.

The Padres haven't discussed moving Tatis internally or with other clubs, team sources told Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune at the GM meetings in Las Vegas.

"We're not trading Tatis," a source said Wednesday, per Acee.

Tatis was at the center of recent trade rumors, as the three-time All-Star's large contract is viewed as the only one that San Diego could potentially move for a valuable return. The Padres' payroll includes several long-term albatross pacts for Xander Bogaerts, Manny Machado, and Yu Darvish.

The 26-year-old Tatis is owed a little more than $290 million over nine years. Bogaerts, 33, is getting over $25 million per season through 2033, while Machado, 33, will earn over $26 million in 2026 before seeing his salary jump to over $39 million from 2027 to 2033. The 39-year-old Darvish, who will miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing elbow surgery, is still owed $46 million over three years.

The Padres have several holes to fill in their pitching staff for 2026, with Dylan Cease, Michael King, and Robert Suarez testing free agency.

Tatis went deep 25 times with 71 RBIs, 32 stolen bases, and an .814 OPS over a career-high 155 games in 2025. The 2021 NL MVP finalist is a two-time Gold Glover, two-time Platinum Glover, and two-time Silver Slugger.
