Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story will not opt out of the last two guaranteed years of his contract, a source told MassLive's Chris Cotillo.
Story is set to make a combined $50 million in 2026 and 2027. The Red Sox also hold a $25-million option for 2028 that includes a $5-million buyout.
The 32-year-old is coming off his first healthy season since signing in Boston, hitting 25 home runs to go with 96 RBIs, 33 stolen bases, and a .741 OPS over 157 games.
Story played just 163 total games between 2022 and 2024 due to multiple injuries.
The two-time All-Star originally signed a six-year, $140-million contract in March 2022 as a free agent after leaving the Colorado Rockies.
