Brian Snitker won't return as manager of the Atlanta Braves next season, the team announced Wednesday.

However, the 69-year-old will remain with the team in an advisory role.

Snitker has served as Braves skipper since he succeeded Fredi González on an interim basis in May 2016. Atlanta then named him its permanent skipper in October of that year. Over 10 regular seasons at the helm, he posted a 811-668 record and led the club to a World Series championship in 2021, the Braves' first since 1995.

He was named National League Manager of the Year in 2018 after the Braves captured their first of six consecutive NL East titles.

Snitker, whose contract expired following the 2025 season, said Sunday that he had yet to make a decision on potentially retiring, according to The Athletic's David O'Brien. However, multiple players candidly expressed their support for his return as manager, including ace Chris Sale.

Snitker first joined the Braves as a catcher in 1977 but was released after just three years in the minor leagues. However, he quickly returned to the organization as a coach and worked his way up the Braves' farm system before eventually landing his first major-league position in 1985 as Atlanta's bullpen coach.
