The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated right-hander Roki Sasaki from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and placed Kirby Yates on the IL with a right hamstring strain.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sasaki will pitch out of the bullpen, according to MLB.com's Sonja Chen.
Sasaki hasn't pitched in a big-league game since May 9 while recovering from a shoulder impingement. He appeared in seven games (five starts) for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City, authoring a 6.10 ERA and 8.3 K/9 in 20 2/3 innings.
The 23-year-old struggled to a 4.72 ERA and 5.8 BB/9 during eight starts with the Dodgers earlier this season.
The Dodgers' bullpen enters Wednesday with a 5.69 ERA in September and an MLB-worst 5.6 BB/9.
