Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez exited Monday's game against the Texas Rangers with a left ankle sprain after stepping awkwardly on home plate during the first inning.
Alvarez could barely make it down the dugout stairs before heading into the clubhouse, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome.

Alvarez was replaced by Zach Cole, who shifted to right field. Jesús Sánchez, who started in right, moved to left field.
The slugger exited the Astros' clubhouse on crutches and with his foot in a walking boot. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, manager Joe Espada said after the Astros beat the Rangers 6-3.
The 28-year-old Alvarez entered Monday with six home runs, 27 RBIs, and a .794 OPS across 47 games.
Houston is a half-game behind the Seattle Mariners for top spot in the AL West. The Rangers are 3.5 games behind the Astros in the division.
