Phillies, Marlins gift swag to young fan after HR ball was taken away
One young fan's night at the ballpark was nearly ruined by another overly zealous spectator. Both the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies ensured it would instead be an evening to remember.
In the fourth inning of Friday's game at LoanDepot park, Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader crushed a solo homer to left field that gave his club a 5-1 lead. That ball ended up in the hands of a young Phillies fan after his dad won a scramble for the baseball.
This, however, drew the ire of another fan in the left-field bleachers. Cameras caught a woman in a Phillies jersey running across the aisle to confront and berate the shocked father and child until she was eventually given the baseball. The father appeared to reluctantly wave her away after surrendering the souvenir, seemingly in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.

Both teams noticed what happened and took immediate action. Although the boy who lost the baseball was wearing Phillies gear, the Marlins brought him a gift bag that included baseballs and other goodies.

Fans in the outfield section cheered the youngster, who's apparently celebrating his birthday in the coming days.

The Phillies also had some treats in store for the fan. Following their 9-3 win, the Phils brought the boy and his family downstairs for a meet-and-greet, where he received a signed bat from Bader.

Needless to say, the only loser on this night was the woman who ripped off Bader's home-run ball.
