The Toronto Blue Jays claimed utility man Isiah Kiner-Falefa off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates, the clubs announced Sunday.
The Blue Jays traded Kiner-Falefa to the Pirates at last year's trade deadline for infield prospect Charles McAdoo.
The 30-year-old Kiner-Falefa will be eligible for the playoffs because he'll join the Blue Jays before Sept. 1.
Kiner-Falefa has slashed .264/.300/.332 with one homer, 35 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases over 119 games this season. However, he put up the best offensive numbers of his eight-year career in 2024 with Toronto, recording seven long balls with a .758 OPS across 83 contests.
The 2020 Gold Glover is also in the 69th percentile for outs above average.
