Brewers' Misiorowski lands on IL with tibia contusion
The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Jacob Misiorowski on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a left tibia contusion before his scheduled outing vs. the Washington Nationals.
Misiorowski was hit on his shin by a liner last Monday during a start against the Chicago Cubs. He stayed in the game but only pitching four innings.
The 23-year-old phenom said he expects to only miss only two starts due to the injury, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The IL designation is retroactive to July 31.
Misiorowski owns a 2.70 ERA with 12.7 K/9 over 33 1/3 innings (seven starts) this season for the NL Central-leading Brewers. He set a new record for fastest rise from MLB debut to All-Star after being selected to participate in this year's Midsummer Classic after just five starts.
Right-hander Logan Henderson was recalled to take the Misiorowski's spot on the active roster.
