The New York Mets traded for Baltimore Orioles reliever Gregory Soto on Friday, the club announced.
New York sent pitching prospects Wellington Aracena and Cameron Foster to Baltimore in the deal. Aracena, 20, is the 19th-ranked prospect in the Mets' system.
Soto, a two-time All-Star, posted a 3.74 ERA in 45 appearances (36 1/3 innings) with the Orioles this year. He's slated to hit free agency this offseason.
The southpaw addresses a glaring need in the Mets' bullpen. Their only other left-hander, Brooks Raley, made his season debut July 19 after missing 15 months recovering from Tommy John surgery.
