Cedric Mullins has played every game of his major-league career in a Baltimore Orioles uniform, and he hopes that remains the case after the July 31 trade deadline.

"I want to stay," Mullins said Friday when asked about the possibility of being traded, according to The Baltimore Banner's Danielle Allentuck.

"It's one of those things where you try to make a case, it's really what these next couple of weeks are for. Go out there, control what you can control, whatever happens after that is what it is."

The 30-year-old outfielder is on an expiring contract and set for free agency at the end of the season. He's in the midst of a career-worst offensive year (.215 average, .703 OPS) but is still on track for a 20-20 campaign.

The Houston Astros are on the hunt for a left-handed hitter and reportedly showed interest in Mullins.

Mullins is one of Baltimore's many trade chips, along with fellow veterans Charlie Morton, Tomoyuki Sugano, Zach Eflin, and All-Star Ryan O'Hearn.

The Orioles enter Saturday 10 games below .500 and 8.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox for the final AL wild-card spot.
