The New York Mets are going to get a big boost against the Kansas City Royals on Friday when ace right-hander Kodai Senga comes off the injured list to make the start, manager Carlos Mendoza announced Tuesday, per SNY.
Senga will have no restrictions during his outing after missing more than a month with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.
The 32-year-old threw a bullpen session last week after building up to 68 pitches in his last minor-league rehab outing.
Senga has been terrific for the Mets when healthy, posting a 7-3 record with a 1.47 ERA in 73 2/3 innings this season.
New York has been ravaged by pitching injuries, with 12 other pitchers, aside from Senga, on the IL.
