Boone: Ex-Yankee Trevino contributed to Chisholm ejection
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone wasn't happy with his team's former catcher Jose Trevino after Jazz Chisholm was ejected from Tuesday's extra-innings loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
"I'm a little down on Trevy right now," Boone said before Wednesday's game, according to The Athletic's Chris Kirschner. "I think he contributed to the ejection, too. I think he got Mark (Wegner) looking in that direction."
Chisholm was tossed from Tuesday's game after he struck out in the eighth inning and continued to voice his displeasure with home plate umpire Wegner's strike zone while warming up in the ninth. The Reds ultimately won 5-4. Boone said he later spoke to the MLB office about the ejection.
Video shows Trevino drew Wegner's attention to Chisholm at third before the ejection took place.

Chisholm said he was yelling at himself, not Wegner. The team showed him the Trevino footage before Wednesday's game and Chisholm got the last laugh, hitting a homer in the third inning with Trevino behind the plate for the Reds in an eventual 7-1 win for the Yankees.
"He was the one who kind of provoked the umpire for all that to happen, so I just told him that was for last night," Chisholm joked.
Trevino said, "I thought he wanted to talk to (Wegner). I thought he was trying to get his attention, so I was just helping him out."
The catcher said he didn't mind Chisholm's remarks after the homer.
"I was his teammate. I'm not going to fight the guy," Trevino said. "It's baseball. I don't know what kind of answer you want me to say or anything like that. I was his teammate, so … I don't have anything against him. I think he's a good player."
The Yankees traded Trevino to the Reds in December after the backstop spent three seasons in New York.
