The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Teoscar Hernández on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain, the team announced Tuesday.

Outfielder James Outman was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding roster move.

Manager Dave Roberts said Hernández suffered a Grade 1 strain, which is the most mild type of strain. However, the skipper was unable to provide a firm timetable for his return.

"Obviously, he's going to be inactive for a while. I don't really know a timetable," Roberts told reporters, including Sonja Chen of MLB.com. "I think that's all contingent on when he starts back up again."

Hernández went for an MRI after exiting Monday's game early with tightness in his hamstring and adductor. Roberts said postgame that he first felt the injury while chasing a line drive in the third inning.

The injury halts what's been a tremendous start to the season for the 32-year-old slugger, who re-signed with the Dodgers on a three-year, $66-million deal in the offseason. Hernández is hitting .315/.333/.600 with nine home runs and a major league-leading 34 RBIs through 33 games as L.A.'s primary right fielder.

This is Hernández's first stint on the IL since April 2022, when he was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Outman, Andy Pages, and Chris Taylor are all likely candidates to see an increase in playing time while Hernández is sidelined. The left-handed-hitting Outman is batting eighth while playing in center field Tuesday, with Pages in right.
