San Diego Padres star outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. exited Friday's game after being hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller in the third inning.
Tatis was replaced at first base by pinch-runner Oscar Gonzalez. He quickly developed a welt on his forearm after being hit.

The Padres announced that Tatis has been diagnosed with a left forearm contusion and initial X-rays were negative.
The 26-year-old has been one of the game's premier offensive players this season, posting a 1.021 OPS with eight home runs, 18 RBIs, 25 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 30 games.
Tatis entered play Friday tied with New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso for the second-highest fWAR (2.1) among all MLB position players.
