The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Aaron Civale on the 15-day injured list with a strained left hamstring, the club announced Monday.
Civale surrendered five earned runs on four hits (three homers) with one strikeout and one walk over three innings in his first start Sunday in a loss to the New York Yankees.
The 29-year-old's injury is the latest for the Brewers' depleted rotation. Aaron Ashby, Robert Gasser, DL Hall, Tobias Myers, and Brandon Woodruff are also sidelined.
New York hit an MLB record-tying 15 long balls over the first three games of the season, outscoring Milwaukee 36-14 in the series sweep.
Right-hander Grant Anderson was recalled from Triple-A to take Civale's spot on the active roster.
