Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer is expecting more moves before the start of the season.
"Absolutely, we’re not done," Hoyer told 670 The Score's "Spiegel & Holmes" Friday. "We’ll keep on supplementing the roster and keep on looking for ways to upgrade. For better or for worse – in my opinion, for worse – these offseasons just drag out now. I mean, there’s a hundred-plus players still on the free-agent market. A lot of good players"
The Cubs have made a handful of moves so far this offseason, headlined by a blockbuster trade in which they acquired star outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros in December. The Cubs and Tucker avoided arbitration with a one-year, $16.5-million contract.
Hoyer mentioned additions to the starting rotation, the bullpen, and a bench bat as possibilities.
"Yeah, there’s definitely more additions on the way before we get there," Hoyer said.
The Cubs finished the 2024 campaign with an 83-79 record and failed to qualify for the postseason for a fourth consecutive season.
