Kyle Schwarber took home the 2025 Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award under rather unconventional circumstances.
With the teams tied 6-6 after nine innings, the game went to a swing-off to decide the winner.
Schwarber went 0-for-2 with a walk for the National League, but homered with all three of his swings to secure the win in the first-ever All-Star Game swing-off.
"It was awesome," Schwarber said. "The guys were really into it. They were yelling, screaming, cheering me on every swing. And then when that last one goes over, they were all pumped. It was a lot of fun."
It's the first All-Star Game MVP for Schwarber, who was playing in his third Midsummer Classic. He's only the second Phillies player to win the award, joining Johnny Callison in 1964.
"A lot of guys that deserved this (MVP) but I'm happy it's going home with us to Philly," Schwarber said.
Schwarber is also the first non-pitcher to win All-Star Game MVP without recording a hit in the game, according to OptaSTATS.
