The New York Mets are among a few clubs intrigued about bringing in reliever Clay Holmes as a starting pitcher, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Holmes, who was selected to two All-Star Games (2022, 2024) while serving as the New York Yankees closer over the last three years, hasn't started in the majors since his 2018 rookie season with the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he did make 114 starts in the minors.

The 31-year-old right-hander authored a 3.14 ERA with 30 saves and a 9.7 K/9 over 67 appearances last season.

Holmes' potential transition from the bullpen to a rotation comes as former relievers Seth Lugo, Michael King, and Reynaldo López all finished with Cy Young votes in 2024.
