The Los Angeles Dodgers designated veteran outfielder Jason Heyward for assignment to make room on the roster for utility player Chris Taylor, the team announced Thursday.
Heyward hit .208/.289/.393 with 28 RBIs in 63 games during his second campaign with the Dodgers.
The left-handed-hitting Heyward, who has hit well against righties throughout his career, owns a .669 OPS against them this year.
Heyward played his last game with the Dodgers on Tuesday, belting a pinch-hit, three-run home run against the Seattle Mariners. The homer was the difference in a 6-3 win for Los Angeles.

The Dodgers re-signed the 35-year-old to a one-year, $9-million deal in November after he revived his career with them last season. Heyward's .813 OPS during the 2023 campaign was one of the highest marks of his career.
Heyward is the latest outfielder the Dodgers have removed from their active roster; they optioned Andy Pages to Triple-A on Monday.
