The Cincinnati Reds added utility man Amed Rosario off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers designated Rosario for assignment Tuesday after acquiring the eight-year veteran from the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline. He played just five games with Los Angeles, collecting three hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base but was the victim of a roster crunch with Mookie Betts returning from the injured list.
The 28-year-old Rosario is enjoying one of the best years of his career, slashing .305/.331/.415 with two homers, 28 RBIs, 10 steals, and a 114 wRC+ across 81 contests.
Rosario can provide depth at shortstop, second base, and in the outfield as a bench piece for the Reds down the stretch.
