Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that shortstop Mookie Betts will play right field again when he returns Monday.

Roberts added that he spoke with Betts on Thursday about the position change.

"He is most confident right now in right field versus at shortstop," Roberts said, according to the Associated Press.

Betts, who hasn't played since June 16 due to a fractured hand, started 61 games at short this season prior to the injury.

The eight-time All-Star has made 916 starts in right over his 11-year career. He's also won six Gold Gloves in the outfield.

The 31-year-old should give the Dodgers a massive boost, as he collected 10 homers with an .892 OPS and 3.3 fWAR over 72 games to begin the 2024 campaign.

Betts will hit second behind Shohei Ohtani when the former returns to the lineup.
