The New York Yankees placed slugger Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain Sunday.
The five-time All-Star exited Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves after wincing while rounding third base to score in the fourth inning. He was later pinch-hit for in the sixth.
Stanton said Sunday that he expects to be out for around four weeks, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. He added he received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection earlier in the day.
Manager Aaron Boone characterized the strain as "mild," per Hoch.
Stanton is hitting .246/.302/.492 with 18 homers and 45 RBIs over 69 games this season.
New York recalled infielder Oswald Peraza from Triple-A in a corresponding move but immediately optioned him back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Sunday's game. Peraza's quick demotion was likely done to clear a spot for veteran infielder J.D. Davis, who was acquired from the Oakland Athletics earlier the same day.
