Angels walk off Astros after Cabbage drops potential game-saving catch over fence

The Los Angeles Angels received a stroke of good luck on Sunday when they walked off the Houston Astros 9-7 after outfielder Trey Cabbage dropped a potential game-saving catch over the fence in left field.

With a runner on first and one out in the ninth, Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe hit a long fly ball toward the left-field fence, where Cabbage appeared to make a leaping grab before dropping the ball into the stands.

Umpires reviewed the play for several minutes, later ruling it a home run.

Cabbage said after the game he had the ball in his glove, but it jarred loose when he hit the wall.

"It's tough. I feel like I should have made the play, but I didn't," Cabbage said, according to the Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara.

O'Hoppe nearly passed Kevin Pillar at first base, which would have nullified the homer because the trail runner is ruled out when passing a teammate on the bases.

The Angels avoided a sweep thanks to O'Hoppe's game-winning hit.
