Houston Astros right-hander José Urquidy is seeing Dr. Keith Meister after being pulled from his rehab start and may need a second Tommy John surgery, sources told Alden González and Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Urquidy has yet to pitch in the majors this season after sustaining a forearm strain during spring training. He made two rehab starts without issue before departing early Friday.
The 29-year-old only logged 63 innings (10 starts) last season due to injury.
Urquidy owns a career 3.98 ERA with 1.14 WHIP and 7.2 K/9 over five years with Houston. He won a World Series with the club in 2022.
