Angels' Adell rues questionable review after caught stealing to end game

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell expressed disappointment after he was caught attempting to steal second base to end the game in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

Adell appeared to be safe, but the call stood following a video review:

"A little disappointing to end the game that way. But hopefully, we can get those right moving forward," Adell said postgame, according to Joe Reedy of The Associated Press.

MLB said the play on the field stood because the replay was inconclusive.

"After viewing all relevant angles, the replay official could not definitively determine that the runner touched second base prior to the fielder applying the tag," the league said in a statement, per Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun.

Angels manager Ron Washington thought Adell was safe as well.

"The guy on the mound (Craig Kimbrel) was slow. The opportunity was there, and we took it," Washington said, per Reedy. "From all replays we saw, it looked like he was safe, but we don't make the call."
