Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo has a torn meniscus in his knee and will require surgery that'll likely keep him out at least one month, reports Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.
The 24-year-old infielder was removed from a game against the New York Yankees last Wednesday after he started hobbling while running the bases. He hasn't appeared in a game since.
The D-Backs are expected to select the contract of infielder Kevin Newman from Triple-A, although Blaze Alexander will fill most of Perdomo's playing time, adds Piecoro.
Perdomo appeared in 144 games for the D-Backs in 2023, posting a .712 OPS with 47 RBIs and 16 steals. He's hitting .250 with 2 RBIs in seven games this season.
The Dominican infielder is in his fourth campaign with Arizona.
