India: Reds will win NL Central this season
Jonathan India is confident the Cincinnati Reds will be the kings of the National League Central in 2024.
"This is the year we're going to be a playoff team," India said, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. "We all know it. We just missed the playoffs by two games last year. We're not going to miss it again.
"We've got more energy. We've more confidence. And a lot of us have a chip on our shoulder. We're going to win the division this year."
The Reds won 82 contests in 2023 to finish 10 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers. Cincinnati also missed the final wild-card spot by two games.
They were 26-33 in early June before going 56-47 the rest of the year, which included a 12-game winning streak - the franchise's longest since 1957.
Cincinnati's turnaround was led by youngsters Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Spencer Steer, and Andrew Abbott.
The club added veterans Jeimer Candelario, Frankie Montas, Nick Martinez, and Emilio Pagán this offseason.
